Lion (Panthera leo)
This would be the Lioness that had 4 cubs and have not been seen on any gamedrives, only by passing vehicles at variouse spots. She is moving around constantly with the cubs, there for she is not in the same area for more than a week. And to ad on that, she hides and keeps a low profile. Only the Male that fathered the cubs have been visiting the Lioness. This is the results of tracks found of the Lioness and the cubs.
He has been up and down from the North-West of the Park and the Central-North to the whole of the Southern plains.
It seems like the first Lion released on the reserve,Temba Lion, and the last Lion, Dinokeng Lion, have met each other, because the Dinokeng Lion, that was released last, moved from the Predator boma to the South and has not moved from there for almost a month. The 2 Lions were seen toghether but the Temba Male has clearly made this his territory. Currently he moved up to the North Western corner of the Reserve. In the latter part of May he met up with the 2 Tswalo Lionesses and they were seen hunting toghether on Figtree plains.
It would seem that the newly introduced Lions to Welgevonden are beginning to fall into their hiaracial order.
