The LAST LIONESS was only sighted twice this month but both sightings of her were awesome! The first sighting was on a morning drive in the South just after our morning coffee stop. We were lucky enough to view her busy dragging her kill towards a more comfortable spot where she felt more relaxed (as you can see in the pic above). She then settled down close to a small thicket to enjoy her meal in peace. Our guests were treated to a very special and also extremely rare sighting of probably the toughest cat to find on the reserve at the moment.
The second and last sighting of her for this month was also in the South, where she has made it her home for just over a month now. She was spotted close to Izingwe plains making her way north (this was on the 21st of this month). Since then there has been a lot of signs of her around the East, which is very close to us. Unfortunately she has not been spotted for the past ten days now but I found fresh tracks this morning from her walking along the eastern boundary fence. Our close neighbors have also been hearing her roar at night and early in the morning about 2 days ago. So this means that she is around and pretty close to us. Hopefully she makes her way out of this block and we get to sight her soon.
