GAME SIGHTINGS
Lions ( Panthera Leo)
The lion sightings have been good this month especially with the western pride. The mother with the two cubs has become more relaxed around the vehicles and say at sighting a lot longer now, and the cubs look like they love the attention they get and are very playful in the mornings. Sadly the mother with the two cubs in the south has disappeared and the cubs were found a few weeks later in a bad condition where they were taken to and animal hospital but they did not make it. Dinokeng and the other female is giving us good sightings and are mating a lot so we might see some more youngsters again.

Leopards (Panthera Pardus)
The leopard sightings from my side has been excellent this month with about nine sightings just myself. The gearbox female has been hanging around site 44’s picnic site for a few days and then moves up the mountain but she is quite relaxed and we have nice long and relaxed sightings with her. There has been a few times we heard the leopards mating so hopefully we will see some cubs.

Elephants (Loxodonta Africana)
Ever since the rain the elephants has been more relaxed, not that they were aggressive but you can see in their behaviour they are happy. In the south there has been good sightings this last week with three to four herds walking together forming a herd of about 77+ elephants in one area which makes you think of the Serengeti.

Cheetah (Ancinonyx jubatus)
The cheetah have sightings have been good this month. But sadly all the cheetahs have moved north but we still have good sightings you just don’t have the open plains background. The cheetahs do this every year at the start of summer the move north and then later they go back south and east again.

Other interesting sightings for the month
We have had the herd of zebra and impala that we see every day but now it looks like there are some wildebeest that is also move closer to the lodge. We have also start seeing a porcupine that hangs around the access road with a pair of Steppe buzzard’s and most nights a family of Spotted Eagle Owls that has been seen around the access road, the mother is a bit afraid of the vehicles and fly away but the two chicks are very relaxed around the vehicles.
