Sightings for the month
2 Lions & 3 Lionesses.
It all started 3 days after I wrote to you in my October NEWS Letter, that a Lion was introduced in the Predator Boma with the 2 Lionesses, inoculation was administered to the Lion and within 2 weeks after that they were released in the reserve, they moved straight to the area where we want them to establish their territory, in the North Western parts of the Reserve.
Meanwhile the Lion and Lioness are still seen together and they’re happy in the southern parts of the Reserve, although the Lion would still occasionally move away to the central parts of the Reserve to patrol his territory he established over these past 5 months.
I would like to explain to you what has happened to date. The Lion introduced with the Females in Predator Boma, is slightly younger than the Lion Roaming free for the past 5 Months and he could hear the other Lion vocalising in the southern Parts of the Reserve, that is why he chose to move North-Northwest when they were released out of the boma, we only got to see a brief visual of them as they moved into the mountains in thick vegetation
They were spotted recently close to site 1, that would be Sediba Lodge in the very North-West corner of the Reserve, on the 27th and on the morning of the 28th we got to see the older Lion the furthest North he has ever been and that is probably because he is following the scent of the females that were released with the younger male.
Meanwhile the female is still in the Southern Parts of the Reserve where she has moved down from the central part of the Reserve and looks like she feels more comfortable there.
